David Junior Grogg, 77, of 566 Park Rd., Stanley, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
He was born on August 5, 1946, in Staunton and was a son of the late Clarence W. Grogg and Authure Leona Mowrey Grogg.
David worked as a farm hand for many years. He had also worked for Mick's Disposal, Ray Carr Tires and James Madison University. After retiring from JMU, David moved to Stanley, where he lived with his soul mate, Deann Ruth Comer. She loved and took care of him until his time on earth was over.
David was preceded in death by two wives, Helen M. Grogg and Betty S. Grogg.
He is his survived by two daughters, Anna M. Freed and husband Steve, and Shirley L. Batterman and husband Timmy; two sisters, Rosie Hamilton and husband Roger, and Kathryn Sledge; three grandchildren, Brandi Jenkins, Mindi Burch and Katti Batterman; and one great-grandchild, Lilly Armentrout. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Nona Mick, Beulah Hise, Fannie Campbell, Anna Mary Loy and Mary Hise; and six brothers, Rosco Grogg, Clarence Junior Grogg, Roy W. Grogg, Jimmie Floyd, Robert Paul Cooper and Jesse Lee.
Pastor Duane Painter will conduct a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newport Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Church of Brethren Cemetery at Singens Glen in Rockingham County.
