Danny Painter Obituary

Danny Ray Painter, 67, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born on June 3, 1957, in Luray and was a son of the late George Painter and Betty Painter.

Danny had worked for J&G Trucking, Lee High Paving, Hall Mechanical, Peed Plumbing, and retired from Atlas Plumbing. Following retirement, he spent time working in his basement, on anything and everything.

Danny was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Luray Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed walking his dog, Buster, and telling stories of his truck-driving days in the late '70s and early '80s. He was a hard worker and always made sure whatever the task was he took the time and care to do it right.

On September 1, 1984, he married Cathy Ann Painter, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Danielle Painter (Jason Frye) of Luray; a son, Matthew Painter (Jessica) of Luray; two brothers, Chris Painter (Tina) of Stanley, and Greg Painter (Ruby) of Luray; a sister, Debbie Winecoff of Chesterfield; three aunts, Bonnie Dovel of Shenandoah, and Carolyn Dovel and Martha Graves, both of Stanley; and six grandchildren, Aidan Pumphrey, Savannah Hutcherson, Ellayna Hutcherson, Kiersten Hutcherson, Wyatt Frye and Jax Frye.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, at the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley by Evangelist Doug Gochenour.
