Charles Leonard Weakley Sr., 88, of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
He was born on June 28, 1934, in Silver Spring, Md., and was a son of the late Ellis Weakley and Ethel Weakley.
Charles, also known as Leonard by his family and Charlie by his friends, worked as an electrician, retiring in 1996. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 24 in Baltimore, Md., since November 1961.
He is survived by seven children, Deborah Maier (Gary) of Mount Airy, Md., Diane Ozmer (Gary) of Knoxville, Md., Charles Weakley Jr. (Jackie) of Gettysburg, Pa., Gregory Weakley (Heather) of Frederick, Md., Bryan Weakley (Tracey) of Charleston, S.C., Dorothy Ward (Danny) of Yucatan Peninsula, and Norma Jo Agnew (Kelly) of Naples, Fla.; two sisters, Thelma Murphy of Luray, and Lawana Dustin of Westminster, Md.; a sister-in-law, Dolly Weakley of Luray; 21 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Also, the mother of his seven children and life-long friend, Norma Stevens (Gus); and his brother-in-law, Jim Lauer of Stanley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Weakley.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed his weekly card games with his siblings and family.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Danny Ward. He was laid to rest in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Stanley.
