Charles William Smoot, 78, of Washington, Va., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1943, in Rappahannock and was a son of the late George Godfrey Smoot and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Smoot.
On Sept. 13, 1964, Charles married Mae Frazier Smoot, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Charles Smoot Jr. and wife Lori of Flint Hill; a brother, Alexander Smoot of Front Royal; a sister, Mary Jenkins of Luray; a granddaughter, Chelsea Smoot of Amissville; a grandson, Charles Garrett Smoot of Flint Hill; one step grandson, Brandon Pennington of Stephens City; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and George Smoot Jr.; and a sister, Martha Marston.
