Charles Elmo Dovel Jr., 79, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on January 24, 1947, in Virginia and was a son of the late Charles Elmo Dovel Sr. and Maggie Mae Lucas Dovel.
Charles was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
On July 4, 1970, he married Beulah Knott Dovel, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by a daughter, Janine Dovel-Gray of Luray; a brother, Ralph Wayne Dovel of Luray; two sisters, Sylva Comer of Shenandoah, and Mary Lou Fisher of Luray; a granddaughter, Alyssa Gray of Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Glora Kite and Bonnie Kay Good.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at the funeral home by Greg Purdham. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
