Carolyn Burner Rothgeb, 81, of Luray, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024.
She was born on September 5, 1942, and was a daughter of the late Charles Lee Burner and Anna Virginia Smith Burner.
Carolyn worked for Luray Caverns for 6+ years and for the National Park Service at Shenandoah National Park for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church since 1953.
On October 20, 1968, she married Gerald Rollin Rothgeb who died October 11, 2003.
She is survived by three children, Eric Williams and wife Susan of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Margaret Emert and husband Chris of Luray, Virginia, and Amy Hill and husband Jack of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; a stepson, David Rothgeb and wife Belinda of Huntingburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Margaret Williams, Emily Williams, Scott Emert and Becky Emert; a stepgrandson, Michael Rothgeb; a sister, Barbara Phillips and husband Don of Stanardsville, Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Burner of Montross, Virginia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Burner and Mary Anne Waybright of Luray, Virginia, and two brothers, Robert Burner of Montross, Virginia, and Charles Burner of Luray, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Luray United Methodist Church. Please bring your fondest memories to share with family and friends.
