Carlos Grant “Bob” Good, 89, of Luray, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020, in Luray.
He was born on January 9, 1931, in Shenandoah, Virginia, the eighth child of Robert J. and Lydia Grimsley Good.
Carlos graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1948. In 1952 he was called to military service in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country until 1954 and was honorably discharged from the Corps with the rank of Corporal. He was a very proud American and was proud of his Marine Corps service.
Carlos worked in construction and at Blue Bell in Luray, and for the Washington D.C. Department of Corrections for 11 years. He then was employed by the Virginia Oak Tannery until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, Carlos was busy taking care of his grandsons and tending to his garden and yard, and was very involved in Masonic activities and with the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621 in Luray. He had an outgoing personality, always making friends wherever he went. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and liked to share stories of his childhood days in Steam Hollow and his time spent in the Marines.
Carlos was a member of Morning Star Lutheran Church, having served on various church committees in the past 68 years. He was a member and past master of Luray Lafayette Lodge #137, a member of Royal Arch Chapter 4, Luray Commandery #19 Knights Templar, and Page Chapter #24 Order of the Eastern Star. He served many roles in these organizations over the years and became a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in 2019 and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in 2020.
Carlos married Bernice Lorraine Griffith on December 1, 1951. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Bonita Good Deavers, and her husband, Julian, of Luray; and two grandsons, Jordan Matthew Deavers and girlfriend Shelby Franklin of Luray, and Jacob Grant Deavers and fiancée Alisha Turner of Luray. Also surviving are a special brother- and sister-in-law, Roger and Sue Fox of Luray, and sister-in-law Faye Good of Alexandria; a dear friend, Gene Sveum of Luray; and many nieces and nephews.
Carlos was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert W. Good, Burtis Good, Ira Wilson “I.W.” Good and James L. Good; and three sisters, Isadora Bell, Virginia P. Cartee and Lucille Meador.

A private burial was held on Friday, May 15, at Morning Star Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Post 621. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
