Billy Carl Fields, 77, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
He was born on December 22, 1946, in Kingsport, TN, to the late Pastor Bernard Carl Fields and Beulah Pansy Puckett Fields. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harmon Fields; and a sister, Wanda Hardy.
In his younger days, Billy proudly served for four years in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He spent much of his time traveling the world with the military or traveling the U.S. with his brother, Harmon. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish, swim, and play numerous sports with friends.
After leaving the military, he worked for most of his career at Avtex and Trex, both in Virginia. When he finally retired, he loved to relax at home with a steaming cup of coffee in the morning and enjoying the quiet home life he had built with his loving family and pets.
Billy is survived by his wife, Jamie Elizabeth Mace Fields; a brother, Leland Fields; his daughter, Shannon Fields Dayley (Wendall); a granddaughter, Renee Hough (Sarah); a grandson, Rhys Dayley; his foster sons, Keaton Davis and Quintin Eppard; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
