Betty Marie (Shenk) Wilson Hoak

Betty Marie Wilson Hoak, 95, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.

She was born on July 9, 1925, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Elmer William Shenk and Ester Mae Seal Shenk.

Betty had worked at Page Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church.

On May 22, 1943, she married Ralph Wilson, who died on  May 19, 1985. Betty married her second husband, Robert “Dutch” Hoak, on Dec. 8, 1991. He passed away on June 30, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Fox and husband Frankie of Luray; a stepdaughter, Bonnie C. Grove of Front Royal; two granddaughters, Dawn Bond and Cynthia Gochenour-Bell, both of Luray; a step granddaughter, Jennifer Cave of Luray; three great-grandchildren, Melissa Mathews, Travis Gochenour and Tiffany Gochenour, all of Luray; two great-great-grandchildren, Aaleyah and Aryana Andrade, both of Luray; and two nephews, Alfred Lee Wilson and wife Connie of Stanley, and Franklin Wilson and wife Shirley of Luray. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis R. Hoak; eight sisters, Naomi Gochenour, Elsie Shenk, Mary Stegall, Dorothy Aylor, Vallie Shenk, Martha Shenk, Mattie Shenk and Edith Shenk; and five brothers, Lewis, Isaac, Lester, James and Elmer Shenk Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Earl E. Painter. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.

Due to COVID-19, facial coverings and social distancing restrictions will be followed.
