Barbara Jones Stader

Barbara Jones Stader, 87, completed her life's journey on October 21, 2024. She had been in failing health for several years.

She was born on August 4, 1937, in Luray, Virginia, to the late Roy B. and Golda Lichliter Jones.

Barbara graduated from Luray High School in 1956 and then moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

On July 4, 1956, she married James Allen Stader, also of Luray. She and Jim lived in Newport News, Virginia, for several years and then relocated to the Harrisonburg area, where she again worked at the DMV for many years.

Barbara later worked part-time for more than 20 years at the Harrisonburg Auto Auction. She began bowling at a young age and continued to enjoy the sport for many years in a league at Valley Lanes in Harrisonburg.

Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Jim; their two children, Doug Stader (wife Lora) of Harrisonburg, and Sherri Stader Carew (husband Ross) of Lake Monticello; two grandchildren, Christa and Corey Stader (wife Kiah); and a great-granddaughter, Ridley-Jane Stader.

The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 25, at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray by Pastor Troy Pearson.
