Alanda Egather Gregory, 77, of Luray, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
She was born on May 27, 1947, in Christiansburg and was a daughter of the late John David Howery and Mary Agnes Tucker Howery.
Alanda worked in the Engineering Department at UVA, where she met her husband, Gerald. They were married at the UVA Chapel on April 27, 1968. She continued her career upon settling in Luray at Kontoor (formerly Wrangler). She also worked for many years as a receptionist at H&R Block and Yogi Bear Campground.
Alanda was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Laureate Epsilon Chapter.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Kelly Gregory and Cindy Sours, both of Luray; a son, Aaron Gregory of Luray; a brother, David Howery of Roanoke; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Howery; and a brother, Barry Howery.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 19, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Robert Griffith, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 2-3 p.m. Burial will be in the Culpeper National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beta Sigma Phi, Laureate Epsilon Chapter Scholarship Fund.
