Winfred Leon Fox, 87, of Luray, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Whispering Pines.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1932, in Luray and was a son of the late Homer Franklin Fox and Vera Virginia Griffith Fox.
Mr. Fox retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 30 years in the maintenance department. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.
His wife, Vivian Mae Atkins Fox, died on March 9, 2000.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Lee Everly of Fredericksburg; a sister, Betty M. Steuhmeyer of Luray; a brother, Julian W. Fox of Luray; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Aubrey Franklin, George Ray, Talbert L., Eldon Lewis and Bruce Fox; and three sisters, Frances V. Keeney, Groveen C. Pierce and Reva I. Weld.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at the Morning Star Lutheran Church in Luray by the Rev. Jeffrey D. Marble. Burial was in the Morning Star Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
