Susan Gail Axell

Susan Gail Axell, 59, of Luray, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

Born a Little Person on Jan. 9, 1960, in Rhode Island, Susie had the biggest heart. Her greatest love was her daughter, Erika. From her wheelchair, Susie advocated for the rights of the disabled and heightened awareness of accessibility issues in her hometown of Luray. Her circle of friends extended to the internet, where she enjoyed the freedom of movement and social connectivity physical circumstances denied her.

We will miss her infectious laughter, her sunny outlook and her deep love.

Surviving in addition to her daughter, Erika Faunce of Luray, are her father, Charles Leroy Axell of Annandale; and three sisters, Karen Axell of Warrenton, Cynthia Axell of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Diana Axell of Annandale. Her mother, Millicent Hintz Axell, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at the Bradley Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m.
