Shirley Ann Stoneberger, 78, of Stanley, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on April 3, 1946, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late James Marion Knight and Evelyn Virginia Cubbage Knight.
Shirley was a member of the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church in Stanley. She enjoyed church and loved listening to gospel music.
Children were a big part of Shirley's life and she had an extravagant love for the children under her care. She would sit for hours bird watching and took great pleasure working in her flower gardens.
On December 1, 1982, she married Leonard Stoneberger, who died on May 1, 2006.
She is survived by a son, Charles Williams and wife Tammy of Elkton; a brother, Larry Knight and wife Martha of Luray; five grandchildren, Brenda K. Turner, Ginger Wright, Taylor McCoy, Zach Williams and Julia Williams; and four great-grandchildren, Desiree, Chase, Cayson and Axel. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Turner and Donna McCoy; and a sister, Deloris Lawson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, at the Forward For Christ Baptist Church in Luray by Pastor Josh Parlett, Pastor Matt Caton and Evangelist Andy Seastrom, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Stanley.
