Robert Bowie Garth Jr.

Robert Bowie Garth Jr., 89, of Orlando, Florida, died May 11, 2019, at Advent Hospital in Winter Park, Florida.

Robert “Bob” was born December 10, 1929, in Proffit, Virginia, to parents Robert B. Garth Sr. and Edith Thurman. Bob went to school and graduated from Stanley High School in 1947. After high school, he entered the Navy from 1948-1949 and served during the Korean War. He moved to Orlando, Florida, in November 1952.

In January 1953, he married the love of his life, Elaine Jobe of Luray. Elaine passed away in April 1994.

He loved playing golf, bowling with his friends and working in his yard. He moved into his home in 1952 in Orlando and lived their until his passing. He worked in various jobs including construction, a city bus driver, Goodyear and retired from Monroe Business machines.

Bob was a great man with a kind heart and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; and sisters Edith Wright, Mildred McCallister and Francis Ann Conley.

He is survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.

At his wishes, a viewing will take place May 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida.

The family will receive friends at the Bradley Funeral Home Monday, May 20, from 10-11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m.

His burial will take place in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray following the funeral.
