Mary Christine “Chris” Nestor, 67, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, after a three-month battle with cancer.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Orville Lawrence Vittitow and Willa May Wills Vittitow.
Chris was an avid gardener, amateur horticulturist, a quilter and a great reader of books — a passion she passed on to her children. She was a member of the Holy Infant Catholic Church in Elkton. She was a devout Catholic who gave of herself for the less fortunate and offered her suffering daily to the Lord for others.
On Oct. 6, 1984, she married Michael R. Nestor, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Molly, Timothy and Jeremy; one grandson, Oliver; four sisters, Anna Catherine Logula and husband Washington, Carol Elizabeth Vittitow Adamson, Cindy Louise Lauber and husband Bill, and Susan Elaine Mark and husband Brian; three brothers, James Orville Vittitow and wife Moutse, Charles Andrew Vittitow and wife Lisa, and Thomas Matthew Vittitow and wife Janet. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Lawrence Vittitow.
A funeral service was conducted on Monday, March 11, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Washington, Va., by Father Beres. Burial was in the St. Peter Parish Cemetery.
